Who Are We? What is this website about?
We are a group of DOG LOVERS and ADVOCATES for SHELTER DOGS.
We want to PUT AN END to unsavory, unscrupulous practices within organizations presenting themselves to the public as a non profit dog rescue.
After years of observing concerning “business practices” by a charity non-profit animal rescue that holds a 501(c)3 status with the IRS it is time to create this site.
We KNOW there are MANY generous, fellow dog loving individuals out there who have unfortunately become financial victims of this rescue. One that should have an obligation to deal with the public honestly and transparently. However their track record over quite a few years has proven they are anything but honest or transparent.
The horror stories we have heard from many people who have come into contact with this rescue are alarming. Stories that would not exist if Humans and Animals United conducted themselves as a legitimate 501(c)3 animal rescue is supposed to by law.
Everything from being blocked on social media for asking questions. Comments deleted because this rescue elected not to answer. Requests for vet invoices or other what should be required disclosure denied to a legitimate donor. Private messaging harassment and abuse. Predatory pledge collection practices to receive donations after the person who pledged had second thoughts. And MORE. MUCH MORE.
People say their experiences with Humans and Animals United include being disrespected, discounted, degraded and disregarded after making such donations leaving a bad taste in their mouth. This is a rescue with a long pattern of failing to be transparent and honest with those they come in contact with.
In the bigger picture this harms not only these humans affected but every legitimate animal rescue.
These genuinely concerning stories come from wonderful people from all walks of life. Taking advantage of those who have donated their discretionary income believing a shelter dog benefited from that donation and was saved because of it.
Only to later discover that transparency and honesty are not characteristic of this rescue. Instilling suspicions that the shelter dogs being rescued are not the true beneficiaries of their generous donations.
A 501(c)3 charitable organization should not operate in this fashion. Donors have a reasonable expectation to get their questions answered. To see invoices for what they paid for via donations. To receive valid, detailed and truthful updates of the status and welfare of the dogs they donate to in keeping with donor intent.
What generous donors should not be subjected to is the often questionable behavior by this rescue. As they attempt to shield the public from the truth about their operation, any of the dogs whereabouts or other information a donor is entitled to.
All the while people express ongoing concern that those donations are being mis-used, misappropriated and enriching humans within their rescue circle while not benefiting the shelter dogs they were intended for.
